#medicineisasocialjusticeissue

Sometimes standing up for our patients is writing a letter so they may travel on the plane with their diabetes supplies, sometimes it is helping them apply for a break on rent in the middle of a pandemic, sometimes it is lobbying your state legislature to assure funding for the additional green carts licenses that will make vegetables affordable in the community.  But sometimes it is stopping traffic on Madison Avenue and taking a knee with #WhiteCoats4BlackLives.  Whether it is a Black Lives Matter protest through New York City or a Women's March in DC or Manhattan I stand, as do so many of our family docs around the country, to recognize the multitude of factors that impact our patients health not only within but beyond our exam room's four walls.
